Suffering from hay fever? Try this and you’ll never look back

Hay fever affects up to 1 in 5 people at some point in their lives and at this time of year, suffering from the dreaded hay fever is inevitable, but for some of us that can look a lot worse than others! Sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes (I’m not crying – I promise!), headaches and even fatigue – all common symptoms that whilst sound small, when dealing with them on a daily basis, can have a real impact on quality of life, particularly if your symptoms are severe. In children, it has also been known to cause a middle ear infection, which we all know can be painful.

Combatting symptoms of hay fever is certainly tricky. There are plenty of medicinal options on the shelves and it’s all about finding which one works for you, and hoping that’s enough to keep you going throughout the day. It’s also recommended that you keep windows closed when you are sleeping to help you to avoid the early morning pollen in the air – a great tip, just so long as it’s cool enough to sleep with the windows closed, which unfortunately isn’t usually a comfortable option in the months that hay fever is at its peak. Other advice is to avoid pollen, which is hard to do, particularly on warmer days when you want to be outside enjoying nature!

Another highly recommended and proven method of reducing symptoms of hay fever, is to invest in an air purifier. Air purifiers are designed to remove airborne contaminants and create a cleaner, safer environment for you to exist in. There are some brilliant air purification units on the market that are able to remove allergens, including pollen, from the air, making your indoor space at least, a safe place for you to breathe, and not be at risk of the unpleasant and exhausting symptoms of hay fever.

When looking for an air purifier that can remove pollen, it’s advised to look for one that uses a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter, as these can remove particles as small as 0.1 microns. HEPA filters have the added benefit that as well as allergens such as pollen, they can also remove bacteria & viruses from the air – including Coronavirus – as well as mould, pet dander, dust and smoke.

Choosing which purifier is best for you and your needs can be a difficult decision and we have plenty of experts on hand to help you make the right choice. If you want to take a look at our range, you can also use our handy comparison chart to see which purifier meets your needs and what level of filtration would be most beneficial to you. It is definitely a smart investment in your health and one of the few proven and easy ways to eliminate the threat of experiencing hay fever symptoms when in your home or workplace, and make your indoor air safe for you.
